Tonight, The Pacific starts on HBO. I can't wait! It's gotten great reviews. I think it's great that Spielberg and Hanks are so dedicated to telling the story of the war. I hope that now they can turn their creative eye to telling the story of the women that helped win the war, specifically the WASP's.
We leave for Lake Tahoe tomorrow. I am so ready to go. I'm bored to tears here at home and more than a little jealous of all of my friends that are already skiing in Winter Park.
I've made reservations at an Italian restaurant in Lake Tahoe for Super Spouse's birthday. I wanted to get him a leprecaun hat to wear on the slopes (his birthday is on March 17) but I know he wouldn't wear it so why waste the money? LK and I just bought him a birthday present which, speaking of, I need to wrap and hide in my suitcase!
Back later, although I don't really have much of interest to say.

Still doesn't tell us much but I love the music.
So I keep thinking of things I want to talk about when I'm on the train, but by the time I get home, I have just enough energy to lay on my couch and read.
Brief highlights -
- I have given up soda. Not to be healthy or as a statement, but. Okay, it started when I decided I didn't feel like lugging a 12-pack of Fresca up the hill on the way home from the store (if I haven't mentioned it - I live on this gigantic hill. The metro and grocery store are on another - so every day to get to work and whenever I go to the store, I have to go down the hill, then up the hill. It's great exercise but pretty annoying.) And since I love making challenges with myself, I thought, 'Hmm. If I'm not drinking Fresca at home, I wonder how long I can go with drinking NO soda.' And on Saturday, it'll be 2 months.
- I might be moving soon. I've been sitting on this since October, but shit just kept coming up. I'm not going to say anymore because I'm afraid I'll jinx it, but it's looking like it's a done deal.
- I have Lionel Shriver and Elizabeth Scott's newest books, waiting for me tonight. Whoo!
- I'm currently re-reading the Anne books. I'm up to Anne of Ingleside and they're still awesome. It is a bit sad that Anne and Gilbert get all respectable and what-not, but I guess you can't break slates over each other's heads forever, eh? And they're still sassy to each other. So, yes. My first literature OTP is still as lovely as ever.
- I have fallen head-long in love with Community. I am also shipping Jeff and Britta LIKE IT'S MY JOB. Unfortunately (though understandably), most of the fandom seems to be all over Jeff/Annie.
- It's been kinda fun in DC lately. See my icon for details. Go us! Rest assured, the world is moving in the right direction all the time - don't let anyone tell you otherwise. *g*
